What’s New in Latest Apple Releases of iOS 17.2 Beta 2 to Developers.
Apple just gave developers a sneak peek at the latest iOS update, version 17.2 beta 2. Here's a quick rundown of what's new!

At WWDC23, Apple showed us a preview of iOS 17, giving us a taste of what’s coming in the next few months. However, not all the cool stuff they talked about is in the first 17.0 version. We’re thinking that the smaller updates, like iOS 17.2 beta 2, will bring in these promised features to the newest iPhones over the next year. If you’re part of Apple’s developer program, you can check out what’s in store with this latest beta release. Exciting times!
What’s new in iOS 17.2 beta 2:
Apple News Splash Screen:
When you open the News app for the first time in iOS 17.2 beta 2, a new screen shows up. It says, “We’ve got the best stories from your favourite sources, picked just for you.”
Right now, we’re trying out iOS 17.2 beta 2 on an iPhone 15 Pro Max to find out all the new stuff and any visual changes it might have. We’ll add more info to this article if we find anything important, so don’t forget to check back here every so often. While you wait, you can check Apple’s official release notes, where they usually talk about the bugs they’ve fixed in this beta version. Alongside Google is about to release Android 15 in 2024.
Spatial Video Recording
If you’ve got an iPhone 15 Pro and you’re using iOS 17.2 beta 2, you can now capture Spatial Video. This cool feature lets you relive your memories in an immersive 3D way using Apple Vision Pro. By default, it’s turned off in the Settings app, but once you switch it on, you’ll see a special option in the Camera app when you’re in video mode. Just a heads up, though—you can only shoot Spatial Video in landscape mode.

Apple Journal App
Guess what? iOS 17.2 beta 1 is here, and it brings the Journal app that Apple talked about in June. This app is like your personal space to think and jot down stuff about your day. It gathers info from the different apps you use, keeping it all private. Time to start documenting your daily adventures!
Upgrades to Messages
iOS 17.2 beta 1 has some nifty additions! First off, there’s the iMessage Contact Key Verification feature that Apple promised a while back. It lets you make sure your messages are going where they’re supposed to without any third-party snooping. Also, you can now see how many messages are hanging out in iCloud, check when they were last synced, and sync up the latest ones manually.
And here’s a fun change: instead of dragging a sticker onto a message, you can now just hold onto a message and react to it with a sticker. Easy peasy!
Music Enhancements
Great news for iOS 17.2 beta 1 users! Now, you can team up with fellow Apple Music subscribers to create playlists together. Plus, there’s a special playlist that’s automatically put together with all the songs you’ve marked as favourites. Nice and easy for your music collaboration and favourites!
New Widgets
iOS 17.2 beta 1 has something fresh for you! There are new widgets for the Weather and Clock apps. Now, you get a special widget just for knowing when the sun will rise or set. Plus, there’s a neat, compact small widget that shows you the upcoming weather for the next few days. Cool, right?
Action Button Tweaks
For folks using iOS 17.2 beta 1, here’s a cool update: now, you can make the Action button kick off a translation session when you press it. Before, you were stuck with options like Silent Mode, Focus, Camera, Flashlight, Voice Memo, a Shortcut, and an Accessibility setting. Now, you’ve got one more handy choice!
Apple TV App Tweaks
If you’re using the Apple TV app on iOS 17.2, you might notice a bit of a facelift. The tabs at the bottom got some design touch-ups, and now, Apple TV Channels show up as rectangular posters instead of circles. Just a little visual shake-up!
Contact Poster Additions
In iOS 17.2 beta 1, when you’re making a new Contact Poster or editing an old one, you can now pick a rainbow color for your name’s text. Pretty cool, right?
Memoji Body Type
In iOS 17.2 beta 1, you can tweak how your Memoji looks even more! Now, you have the power to change the waist, bust, shoulders, and arms of your Memoji. Customize away!
